We had a tremendous response to
this competition with 48 writers sending us their stories. We are delighted to
announce the winner is Karen Dunn with her short story Soul Man.

Our judge Emily Thomas, Publisher of Young Adult Fiction for Hodder Children's
Books,
had this to say about Karen's story:

 "Original idea, intriguingly
put together and Karen has combined real pathos with an interesting and often
clinically explored subject - the issue of a designer baby is taken up to a
whole new level in the harvesting of human organs."

Karen will receive a complete set of Louise Cooper’s Time Master and Star
Shadow
 trilogies and her
story has been published on the bloc
site.

Thank you very much to all who entered. We love
reading your work, so even if you didn't make the top five this time around
please do keep writing and entering the competitions.
